Stalwarts of the panel deliberated on the industry and the need to further organise the sector through such courses Mumbai Educational Trust (MET), Bhujbal Knowledge City announced the launch of a specialised programme, the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) focused on Media and Entertainment. The programme was inaugurated by the renowned poet and screenwriter, Mr. Javed Akhtar. While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Akhtar said, “Earlier, people were not provided formal training. They learned on the job. We should be thankful to MET for filling in the void that was supposed to be filled by the government anyway.” Mr. Akhtar also said, “There is an overload of information and knowledge, which is going fast for sure, but it is more cursory. If we are only going fast, we will only touch the surface level, and we will be fooled. There is a need for a balance between speed and depth. It is great that such a course is introduced by MET and I hope that they would find a balance between the two.” Shri. Chhagan Bhujbal, Founder Chairman, MET, said, “Media and Entertainment are witnessing transformational changes, owing to the factors like mobile and internet surge. This leads to gainful opportunities for the young generation if they are trained well. Thus we envisaged PGDM Media & Entertainment, which is another step in the right direction to bridge that gap.” The launch event also witnessed stars from the entertainment and media industry such as poet, actor, comedian and writer Mr. Shailesh Lodha, Film & Television Actor Mr. Swapnil Joshi, Actor, Director, Producer Mr. Addinath Kothare, Mr. Raj Kamble, Founder & CCO, Famous Innovation, Mr. Pramod Sharma, National Creative Director, Rediffusion Group, Mr. Ajit Wadikar, Director & Writer, ‘Y’ The film, Mr. Shrenik Gandhi, CEO, White River Digital. Among others was a panel of experts from the industry who discussed the current state of the industry and emphasised the necessity of enhancing the organization of the sector. The panel deliberated on the Business of Creativity and the need to build a network and grow credibility in the media and entertainment landscape. Mr. Bobby Pawar, Chairman & Chief Creative Officer, Havas Group India, said, “Readers and viewers have become media itself because they share and react themselves. They have also been defining entertainment, which is equally good.
