“Tiwari Sarkar”: A Cinematic Tribute to the True Identity of Chandrashekhar Azad Hindi cinema has long been fascinated with India’s freedom fighters, and among them, Chandrashekhar Azad stands tall as one of the most fearless revolutionaries of the independence movement. While several films have portrayed his bravery and sacrifice, a newly announced Hindi film titled “Tiwari Sarkar” promises to explore a lesser-known yet deeply significant aspect of his life—his true identity. The film has been officially announced by Madhya Pradesh–based actor, producer, and director SK. Tiwari, who will also be seen portraying the role of Azad himself. What makes Tiwari Sarkar unique is its focus on the man behind the legend. While the name “Chandrashekhar Azad” is etched in history, very few people are aware that his real name was Chandrashekhar Sitaram Tiwari, son of Sitaram Tiwari. He adopted the name “Azad” after being arrested by the British at the young age of 15, boldly declaring his name as Azad, his father as Swatantrata, and his residence as jail. Chandrashekhar Azad was not merely a revolutionary; he was an immortal symbol of courage, sacrifice, and defiance against colonial oppression. His life was filled with untold stories, internal struggles, and emotional depth that mainstream cinema has rarely explored. Tiwari Sarkar aims to uncover those untouched chapters and present a more intimate, humanized portrayal of the legendary freedom fighter. After impactful political dramas like Sarkar and Sarkar Raj, Bollywood is now set to witness a historical narrative with Tiwari Sarkar, a film that blends patriotism with personal truth. The makers claim that this project will highlight aspects of Azad’s life that have remained unexplored in earlier cinematic depictions. Over the decades, Hindi cinema has produced several notable films featuring Chandrashekhar Azad, including Shaheed (1965), 23 March 1931: Martyr (2002), The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002), Shaheed-e-Azam (2002), and Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad (2020). While these films primarily focused on the revolutionary movement and the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh and his comrades, Tiwari Sarkar takes a different route—delving into Azad’s origins, ideology, and the identity he left behind to become a symbol of freedom.
