UAE had come up with a request to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for making maritime fraternity a field where gender equity is maintained. This move is to ensure that women also get equal work opportunities as men in the industry. The IMO passed IMO resolution on “Preserving the legacy of the World Maritime theme for 2019 and Achieving a Barrier-Free Working Environment for Women in the Maritime Sector.” The decision strives towards achieving the fifth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
